Act IV |212| pg. 673
Proctor: ” I will have my life.”
In this quote, Proctor is going through some times of realizations and was just in a point in which he rushed a hard decisions. The realization for John was that he needs to forgive himself and stop hating himself. However, he has too much pride and that’s what made it difficult and also because he was scared of being judged.
Anyways, the character that most stood out to me from this reading was Hale. Although, i do admit that at the beginning of the play ; he wasn’t my favorite character. But he did come back to Salem to help the innocents to confess, which was a great thing because he came to realization. I wonder if he had confessed : that witchery wasn’t real , like would that have made a big difference. I’m really rooting for Hale to get it together and making real actions, and heading back to Salem was a good first step!
